Free Resume Builder
Fill in your details, watch the preview update as you type, and download a clean, ATS-friendly Australian resume as a Word document or PDF — free, with no sign-up and no paywall at the download step. Everything happens in your browser: your details are never uploaded to us.
Your draft is saved on this device only, so a refresh won’t lose your work. It is never sent to us. Use Clear everything to wipe it.
Resume format
Each format changes which sections you get and the order they appear in — that’s what actually matters to a recruiter and an ATS. Every format stays single-column and ATS-friendly.
Your details
Australian resumes don’t include a photo, date of birth or marital status.
Professional summary
Three or four lines: who you are, your strongest relevant experience, and what you’re after.
Key skills
One per line. Mirror the wording in the job ad where it honestly fits.
Work experience
Most recent first. Start bullets with a verb and add a number where you can.
Education
Most recent first. Include the qualification even if it’s in progress.
Licences & certifications
One per line. Put the ones the job requires first (White Card, AHPRA, WWCC, driver’s licence).
Optional sections
Add only what helps. Useful if you’re light on paid work experience.
Referees
“Referees available on request” is normal in Australia unless the ad asks for details.
Why the download is free here
Most big resume builders let you build a resume for free, then ask for a card before you can download the file — often a cheap-looking trial that rolls into a recurring subscription. You’ve already done the work by that point, so it’s an effective place to put a paywall.
We think that’s a rotten trade. This builder downloads your resume as a Word document or PDF for free, with no account, no email and no trial. The whole thing runs in your browser, so your details never reach us in the first place.
When you’re done, run the result through our free ATS resume checker to see how it matches a specific job ad, add a matching cover letter, and read the ATS-friendly resume guide if you want the reasoning behind the layout. Prefer to start from a finished example? Browse the free resume templates.
Frequently asked questions
Is this resume builder really free?
Yes. You can build your resume and download it as a Word document or PDF without paying, signing up, or entering an email address. There is no trial and no paywall at the download step. Many resume builders let you build for free and then charge before you can download the file, which is exactly the problem this tool exists to avoid.
Do I need to create an account?
No. There is no sign-up, no login and no email required. Open the page, fill in your details and download the file.
Is my information uploaded or stored?
No. The resume is built entirely inside your browser and your details are never sent to us. So you do not lose your work if you refresh the page, your draft is saved on your own device only, in your browser storage. You can wipe it at any time with the Clear button, and it is never transmitted anywhere.
Is the resume ATS-friendly?
It is built to be. The layout is a clean, single-column document with standard headings (Professional Summary, Key Skills, Work Experience, Education) that applicant tracking systems can read. There are no tables, columns, text boxes, headers, footers, photos or graphics, which are the things that most often confuse an ATS. You can check the result with our free ATS resume checker.
What format should I send my resume in?
Follow the job ad. If it does not say, PDF is a safe default because the layout will not shift on someone else's computer. Some recruiters and agencies specifically ask for Word, which is why both are offered here.
How long should my resume be?
For most Australian roles, two to three pages is normal, and one page is fine if you are early in your career. Australian resumes do not include a photo, your date of birth, marital status or other personal details.
Can I use this on my phone?
Yes. The builder works on a phone, and the Word download works the same way. For the PDF, your phone's print dialog offers a "Save as PDF" option. Building a resume is usually easier on a larger screen if you have one.
