No experience resume example

You have never had a paid job. The resume leads with your education, skills and school activities so an empty work-history section is never the first thing an employer sees.

What makes an Australian resume strong

Across every example above, the same things make the difference. Keep the layout clean and single-column so it’s easy to read and works with applicant tracking systems. Lead with your name and contact details, a short summary, and your key skills. Put the most relevant section next — work experience if you have it, education if you don’t. Australian resumes leave off photos, date of birth and personal details, and “referees available on request” is normal unless the ad asks otherwise.

Write bullet points that start with a verb and, where you can, include a number or result — “Served up to 60 customers a shift” beats “responsible for customer service”. When your resume is ready, run it through the free ATS resume checker to see how well it matches a specific job ad, add a matching cover letter with the free cover letter builder, and read the full resume and cover letter guide if you want the detail behind the layout.

Frequently asked questions

What does a good Australian resume look like?

A good Australian resume is clean, one to three pages, and easy to read. It leads with your name and contact details, a short summary, and key skills, then covers work experience and education in reverse order. It uses no photo, date of birth or personal details, and a simple single-column layout that applicant tracking systems can read. The examples on this page show that structure for different experience levels.

Can I copy one of these resume examples?

Use them as a model for structure and wording, not as something to copy word for word. The names, employers and numbers in every example are fictional and there to show the format. Swap in your own real experience — an employer can tell a generic resume, and you need to be able to speak to everything on it.

How long should an Australian resume be?

For most roles, two to three pages is normal, and one page is fine early in your career. Quality matters more than length: a clear, well-targeted two-page resume beats a padded four-page one.

What is the difference between a resume example and a template?

An example is filled in with sample content so you can see what a finished resume looks like. A template is the same layout ready for you to replace with your own details. On JobCall each example is a real template you can view on screen and download in Word or PDF, or rebuild from scratch in the free resume builder.

Do these examples work for ATS (applicant tracking systems)?

Yes. They use a single-column layout with standard headings and no tables, text boxes or graphics, which is what most applicant tracking systems read best. You can check your own finished resume with the free ATS resume checker.

These resume examples are provided free for general guidance only. Every name, employer and figure in them is fictional and included to show formatting — they are a starting point to adapt with your own real experience, never text to copy.
