What should a labourer cover letter include?
Lead with your White Card, because most sites cannot legally start you without one. Then cover fitness, punctuality and comfort with early starts and physical work, list any extra tickets such as forklift, EWP or traffic management, and name the tools you can safely use. If you can start immediately, say so plainly — it often decides who gets the call.
Can I get a labouring job with no experience?
Yes. Labouring is one of the most common entry points into construction. A White Card is usually essential, but beyond that employers hire on reliability, fitness and attitude. Include any hands-on work at all, even unpaid or casual, and be clear that you turn up on time and take instruction well.
Do I need a White Card to work on a construction site?
Yes. A Construction Induction Card, commonly called a White Card, is required to work on any construction site in Australia. It is inexpensive and quick to obtain through a registered training organisation, and it should be the first thing on your cover letter and resume.
